Podcast Uncertain Affairs

In the first two episodes of the podcast Onzekere Zaken, we dive into the basics of navigating uncertainty. Merlijn Twaalfhoven and I are invited to reflect on the findings of journalist Michael Schaap, also known as de Hokjesman.

In the premier episode we hear neuroscientist Roshan Cools explain that our mind is a ‘prediction-machine’, which in itself is such an interesting word to use. Professor Maarten Hajer invites us to reflect on the bigger societal stories we tell ourselves today, helping us to connect with tomorrow.

In the second episode of the podcast, we explore the importance of rich, imaginative language, because it will help us see the future as rich and imaginative too. Professor Mark van Twist pleas for more poetry in policymaking. And communication expert Alex Sheerazi takes us below ground to share his experience with one of the most uncertain projects Amsterdam has ever undertaken: the metro line between North and South, known as the Noord-Zuidlijn.
